Rendering the future

Concept World’s article on Is it Real or Realistic? 20 pieces of Photorealistic Digital Art. Showcases 20 realist renderings which are hard to discern between what is real and what has been processed through rendering software such as Conora or Unreal engine which makes pieces hyper-realistic. I am both in total awe and uneasy of how images such as these will impact our futures. As an aspiring architect, I love to see visions of design placed into realistic settings that truly enhance the purpose of a building and environment in which it was created without having to build it. The use of shadow and light are the greatest tool that gives these images depth as well as a sense of place. I think in the past digital art wanted to be smooth and flawless, but with the advances in technology, artists can capture the flaws in the skin or the textures in materials that enhance images. On the opposite side of hyper-realistic renderings is being able to tell the difference between what is a truth or a lie. In the age of misinformation, and as this technology becomes cheaper and widely available it could be used for the powers of darkness. It is my hope to use rendering software as well as virtual reality to immerse people into my art and designs by ripping them from one reality and placing them into another. The future is bright for digital art and how it will shape our lives and influence the next Van Gogh.
