Artist Statement #1

Donald Trump is today’s most notorious liars. I wanted to have Trump say something ignorant and misinformed that it holds so truth. In a world of misinformation about social issues and energy Trump claiming the sun is illegal and here without permission is like a border wall. A wall cannot contain people like a shield prevent the sun. Instead, we need to utilize the resources that enter the country for the good of all. The “solar shield” are panels that harness energy and help people like Mexicans coming to seek greater opportunities. A double negative can create a positive outcome and this solar array uses science to solve a real problem of renewable power. As a GIF I felt like it was best to do this under the lens of satire. It is easier to relay information that is harsh or upsetting when it is light-hearted. Shows that use this method make delivery of information more palatable without being discouraged.
